so, i'm getting pretty good at blogging once a month at nearly the exact same time. right now, i'm multitasking with my japanese oral exam prep, chatting with my sister online, and writing this. let's see how much later i'm going to bed after finishing all three of these tasks.
anywho, it's december. the 14th to be exact. classes finished yesterday, and finals begin on thursday. i don't have a final until saturday, but until then, i have tons and tons of work to do. a 10-page paper is due next monday by noon, and i have a number of assignments to complete for japanese class. this week is not going to be pretty.
other than that, the semester is over, and i'll be home in 8 days. i'm really excited to get out of here and back to the islands where i can relax and forget about all the things i do here in boston.
....random interjection: lori is going to sleep, so we can take the second thing off that list.
the end of the semester is always a rough time for me. i'm exhausted after going on and on for nearly 11 months straight, and i always look forward to december because the holidays are here, and i go home and celebrate them with the family. i'm not looking to be social at all because i do need "me" time to just veg out and reflect on all the things i've done over the year. and it's also the time of year that steve and i get into a fight. we've managed to do that for the past three years now (excluding freshmen year), and it never ends on a good note. most of that is probably my fault, but i can't keep my guard up all year round; i need a break, and december is a good time for it.
december is the one month of the year that i get to be a little selfish and think about myself for once. i don't think i'm selfish during the rest of the year, but if i am, please let me know. and that's the way i am. a lot of people (i can't say everyone) are thinking about themselves during this time of the year, and i like it that way. i'm not saying that i stop thinking about everyone else, but i do start thinking more about myself and what i want to do when i go home. the holidays often get me thinking about my family and friends back home who i haven't seen in a year. i'm also thinking about presents for my friends here that i will bring back in january. it's just that i put myself first this month and hope that steve will be a little more flexible. but, it doesn't work that way. it never works that way. most of the time, steve's frustrated with me because he thinks that i'm running myself into the ground. and i probably am. but i wouldn't want it any other way.
i like december as my "chill out" month. it's a good time. and if everyone is being self-centered for the rest of the year, i can definitely take one month to myself. and that's what i'm going to do. and i hope that my boyfriend will take notice and cater to me a little more. but i'm not going to ask for that because that's ridiculous; he should know me by now, and he should be aware of my moods. and i should be more open to share these moods with him, since they come around once a year.
....random interjection #2: japanese oral exam prep is done....two things down, just one to go!
anywho, that's my rant for tonight. i'd write more, but i really should get to sleep. i'm just a difficult person to get along with, but if you figure it out, you're in for a really good time.
i'm going home in 8 days....
