i've decided that home is awesome in little doses. over the last three nights, i partied until at least 4 in the morning. awesome. i never party like this in boston. i think the main reason is because boston is lame and bars and clubs close at 2. oh well, it's all good. i think that's why i like to visit home.
and, we're back to my recap of my visit home. on friday night, my family ordered pizza and we hung out for the night. i didn't have to pick miki up from work because smylie called me to hang out, and he picked me up to meet up with his friends at "da dawg house," a bar/club in the international marketplace in waikiki. the place was a bit ghetto, but i enjoyed myself. the crowd in waikiki, especially in a tourist hot-spot, is very different from the crowd at a locals' hangout. the majority of people there were tourists, but there were spots of locals at the bar, shooting pool, or on the dance floor. and it was opened until 4. so, smylie and i met up with his friends from work and stayed until 3:45 or so. after that, we walked around to sober up a bit and then he dropped me off at home....at 5 a.m. no joke. we ended up talking all night about what we've been up to over the last three years, and i got home just before the sun crawled above the horizon....i could see the rays of light peeking through the clouds.
while i was out on friday night, i forgot that i had to take miki to take her SATs at 7:45 in the morning. yuck. it's a good thing i took some aspirin to prevent a major hangover. so, i woke up, drove miki over to the test site, and drove back home to sleep. i also planned to play ultimate at 9:30 in the morning, too, so i set an alarm on my phone so i could wake up and get ready to go. my alarm went off at 8:45, and i was still tired. poop. so i went back to sleep and decided that if i woke up, then i'd get myself up to go. instead my brother woke me up because he was going to take the car to the beach. i told him that i wanted to play ultimate and that i'd drop him off on my way to the park....and thus began my day.
random sidenote: i'm scanning over what i just wrote and decided that i'm not really coherent right now, so my english isn't very good. as i try to recap the past couple of nights, you'll see why this is so.
okay, back to the weekend. saturday was intense (for lack of a better word). i dropped brad off at the beach at 10, played ultimate until 12:15, picked miki up from the test site, picked brad up from the beach, and then drove home. i was home for almost an hour before i was out and about again. lori, miki, and traci wanted to go to the beach, and i was going to a birthday party, so i dropped the girls off at the beach, went to the party for a couple of hours, and then picked the girls up at 4:45. after we came home, i took a nap (finally), and then woke up to order chinese for dinner with the family. lori and i waited for our friends to call, but we had to call them. nanea called to meet up, and while lori and i were on my way, jon called to say that they were at mai tai's because enoka's band was playing. so, lori and i went there instead and met up with the boys and hung out with them until the bar closed. trevor drank a lot last night and became ridiculously belligerent, so we tried to split the cars up before we left mai tai's. unfortunately, trevor was insistent, and ended up being dropped off somewhere anyway. lori and jon met me at home (i dropped off the van), i picked up some beer, and then we went over to dallas' to hang out, watch tv, and drink more. jon and i each had two more beers, and dallas complained about being hungry....so, lori went to zippy's to pick up a late night snack for all of us (jay, jon, dallas, lori, and me). after eating, lori and i drove home and went to sleep....around 4:30. again.
and now, it's sunday. i planned to go to watch lori race this afternoon, so that meant i had to get up early. goo again. i finally got my sorry butt off the couch at 9:15, and managed to get ready before ten (that's really lucky). we picked up smoothies from jamba juice and drove down to spend the rest of the day at ke'ehi lagoon. i hung out at the waikiki surf club tent, saw punihei (who is getting married in august....yikes!), and got a very deep sunburn. jon called me to see what i'm up to tonight, and i told him to call me after he got out of work....so i guess i have something to do tonight....yay! lori finally raced at 4:30, and we left as soon as she finished because we were tired, and we were going out to dinner. we had dinner at suzuki's at 7 with grandpa, grandma, aunty susan, uncle ryan, and nikki. all i can say is hooray for japanese food. i'm stuffed right now and tired as ever, but these last three nights have been worth it.
that's the recap for now. i'm pooped, so i'm going to take a nap and wait for someone to call me. or else i'm just going to fall asleep. two more days in the islands, and then i'm on my way back to boston! woo hoo!
hooray for home!

graduation
it's been a long time since i've written anything here....geez. lots happened over the last two months, and i'm really glad to say that i'm done with college, and i'm excited for the life after it.
first things first: i graduated on sunday, may 22 from boston university with a bachelor's of science in journalism. dad, grandma, aunty joyce, and aunty susan came to boston for my graduation, and we then went to las vegas for a couple of nights of shopping, gambling, and relaxing before we returned home. it was really nice to have everyone there to see me receive my college diploma. exciting! : )
now, i'm at home for a few more days (back in boston on the 8th) soaking up the rays, playing ultimate, hanging out with friends and family, and enjoying the time off from any sort of responsibility. i've had a great visit home so far: i went to the aloha tower block party last saturday night, and oahugrown's party last night. it was great to the boys and all of the people who are at home. lots of drinking + lots of dancing = lots of fun. there are just so many things that's happened in the last week....
on thursday, i arrived home. i didn't go out that night; instead it was family night at the nakamuras. that was nice, and i'm glad that we got to hang out. things have really changed at home, and i'm trying to temporarily fit into the family mold. the family doesn't feel like a family anymore, and everyone has more freedom than ever before. because of this, i am sometimes surprised that the rest of my siblings move in and out of the house so freely. times are changing.
i spent friday just hanging out at home (i think). there really wasn't much to do, and i really didn't feel like doing anything.
on saturday, i bought new cleats, browsed around ala moana with lori, and anxiously waited for saturday night to come....yay. now that i think about it, the first three days i spent at home seemed like a month ago. ever since saturday night, the week has flown by, and i have only four days left before i return to boston!
so saturday night was the big block party at aloha tower marketplace. there were three stages, one at kapono's, one at don ho's, and one at gordon biersch. each stage hosted a different band every hour from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. it was crazy. i ran into krystal tim sing and jasmine stein while i was hanging out with the boys, along with many other kamehameha alumni. after the block party, i ended up at lulu's with dallas, trevor, kainoa, and nick ching. we drank until closing (4 a.m.), and then i went home.
sunday was interesting. i had to get up early for sunday brunch with the family at waialae; it's a good thing that i stopped drinking around 3:30 or else it would have been a rough morning. we washed one of the vans and grandma's car, and rested up for brad's graduation later that evening. it was really weird to go to my high school's commencement exercises; i don't think i've been to one since i graduated....everyone looked so cute and it made me think about my high school graduation four years ago. wow.
on monday, dad cooked kalua pig, chicken long rice, steak, and barbecue pork for a graduation dinner with the family. there was lots of 'ono food, and it was really nice to see and talk with everyone. earlier on monday, dad, lori, and i went to watch miki's soccer game. it's awesome to see that miki is playing very well, and that she loves soccer so much. she wants to play d-1, so we'll see.
tuesday....oh, tuesday. now i remember. lori and i went up to kamehameha because she wanted to lift weights and see some of her teachers. i ended up chatting with mr. fukuhara for two hours about everything and anything that came to mind. i also ran into mrs. slagel, mrs. hara, mrs. martin, chris, and dr. mordan. my sister got academic advice from her teachers, and i was able to catch up with everyone. it's such an awesome feeling to be on campus and to reminisce about my days at kamehameha. they were such a treat.
wednesday....lori and i went to the beach. we picked up bentos from mitsuken, and drove to ala moana to eat lunch, enjoy the weather, and hang out. it was really nice talking with lori; she's growing up in her own way, and i'm sure that she will mature into a confident and decisive person. after the beach, we came home, changed, and then went to kahala mall to look for outfits for thursday night. i picked up a black billabong tube top, and lori got a bright green skirt. then, i dropped lori off at paddling practice, and then i went to goaltimate at ala moana. that was a lot of fun. my legs hurt, but it feels good. later that evening, i hung out with two of my friends. we drank black and tans, and talked for a good four hours. that was lots of fun, too. i came home around 1, called trevor to see what they were up to, and fell asleep on the couch. he called back around 3:30, and by that time, i was too tired to get up and go out again. those guys are pretty crazy.
and that brings us to thursday. i spent another day with lori running errands, checking out shorts at riggers for brute squad, and killing more time before the party. nanea called on wednesday, so i invited her to come with us to pipeline on thursday night. thank goodness she was there. we're such similar people when it comes to the party scene just because we know who's been true to us, and who's just trying to get some. before the crazy night, i went to ultimate pickup at kapi'olani and loved every second of it. it's so nice to play ultimate at home because the people are so laid back, spirited, yet competitive. it was also a great workout before the drinking and dancing that ensued that evening. anywho, to the good stuff: lori and i picked nanea up aroun 9:15, and we drove down to pipeline. we did a little pregaming before we went in, and it was a good way to get us started. again, i ran into a number of kamehameha alumni, but these were the people i haven't seen in years. seriously. jay vanatta, smylie wescoatt, grant tom, kapua beyer, kainoa yoshida, tanya labajo....just to name a few. it was a great night for jon and oahugrown, and i'm really proud of him. nanea and i proceeded to get drunk with all sorts of mixed drinks, and she scored us a free round of drinks from one of her friends. when you have nanea and i together in any party situation, just make sure you're on our good side....it was a freakin' fantastic evening. we drank until 3, partied until 4, and dragged kalae away from trevor at the end of the night. that girl. sheesh. let's just say that when you don't have game and are trying to flirt with one of the biggest manho-womanizers, you better represent. lots of laughs, stories, and drinks were shared, and i have to say that it was one of the best nights i've had in the last six months. i can't stop laughing about what went on last night....it's awesome to be home partying with the people you've grown up with. wow. that's all i can say.
we're finally at friday. unfortunately everyone else in the house didn't party until four in the morning, so they were up a little before nine. which meant that because i fell asleep on the couch, i also was up a little before nine with a slight headache. since i knew that i wasn't going back to sleep, i decided to hang out, watch tv, and sort through the events of last night. and i couldn't stop laughing. nanea called around 9:30 to make sure i was okay, and we decided to meet up for lunch in the afternoon. we ended up at w&m burger....yummy! lunch was a good time. after lunch, i picked brad up from the beach, ran a few errands at the mall and saw smylie working at cpk. i think we're going to meet up later tonight to hang out or do something....i can't believe i haven't seen him in years! after the mall, i dropped miki off at soccer practice, dropped brad off at football practice, and came home to write this. it's a fabulous way to kill time before picking miki up from soccer practice and taking her to work. besides, i haven't written in a while anyway.
it's about time for me to get miki, so i'm going to end this here. i hope to party more this weekend just to hang out with classmates and friends that i haven't seen in a long time. it should be fun.
visiting home is awesome.
