brute squad v.5.0....let the season begin! : )

it's been a month since i posted, and lots has happened since i returned from the islands. things to note:

-brute squad v.5.0 had tryouts through the month of june and culminated tryouts at the boston invite (which we won!)
-work has been crazy busy and i've been a little too stressed
-summer officially started on june 21

i guess the main thing to mention is that brute rolled over the competition at the boston invite this weekend. as championship director (cd), i made sure that games were running on time, and teams weren't making up their own rules/caps/etc. i spent minimal time on the sidelines of my own team, but i think it helped me to see what brute has the potential to be this season.

the team is going to rock. it's going to be an amazing experience, and i'm really excited for the team. we are mentally and physically stronger than last year, and everyone's hungry to get better. there's really no way to explain it in words; you'll have to see the team play in-person. sick. just sick.

i kept stats during the semis (wicked) and finals (bait) on sunday. i think i can fill the role of stat-taking/subbing well, as long as i know what's going on. and i'm sure i'll figure that out once practices start and everyone figures out how they will contribute best to the team. stat-taking was lots of fun because i had various colored sharpies, and a nice homemade spreadsheet that i made during the car ride to devens on sunday morning. : )

as much as it may seem that it sucks to be on the sidelines, i don't think it will suck. i must contribute as much as i can to the team from the sidelines, and i trust in each person that they will get the job done. we have an impressive roster, and i'm sure everyone will push each other in practice to get better, to want it more, and to grow together. i'm so giddy. hee hee.

brute is two for two in tournaments this season (in april, a smaller brute squad won the henlopen tournament in delaware). we're going to the winston cup in nc at the beginning of august, and to the labor day tournament in santa cruz at the beginning of september. then the club series takes off....exciting.
