team

another monday in the history books. and to open today's blog, let me start with what i ended with: maturity is underrated. it's up as my away message now, and it just makes me frustrated. i don't know what to do about it, but i do want to make sure our team doesn't split. it was obvious at girls' night on friday that there was a definite division between the newbies and the veterans, and it was really immature that it happened. why not try to hang out with everyone instead of segregating yourselves off in another section of the room? is that really hard to do? am i expecting too much, or is the team growing to the point where cliques are inevitable? that's what i hated most about the teams i played on in high school. i didn't care that i wasn't part of the clique, i was just pissed off that they existed in the first place. goo.

....a shiny object distracted me again. i'm uploading photos from girls' night to my ofoto album and was chatting with steve about the issue mentioned above. we got into a heated discussion at the corner of comm. ave. and buick street, and it was just frustrating to have to deal with this kind of stuff in college. honestly, people....grow up!

okay, now i'm seriously multi-tasking. i just finished a couple of e-mails, my photos are done uploading, and now i'm going to attempt to edit them and write at the same time. we'll see how this goes.

ah, nearly three hours since i started this blog, i've managed to finish posting pictures on my ofoto album, uploading a select number of pictures to the lady pilots yahoo! group, discussed with lisa our track workout for tonight, came up with questions for my story on the patriots' "roving rally" tomorrow, registered one more lady pilot for the hat tournament at high tide, chatted with a couple of people online, and....wrote this uber-long run-on sentence.

now, back to the originally scheduled blogcast. as much as i want to go with the flow, i can't stand to let this team divide. i know the team is much bigger than it was in the past, that there are a number of personalities, and that things are different from when i joined this team. however, it's not what i want to leave the team with. i don't want to see the team divide, rather i want to see it grow together to a point where everyone can comfortably hang out with each other. i know i'm asking for a lot, but i think that some people let their egos get in the way of what a team really should be. so what if we're different? we've come together because we want to be on a team, we want to hang out and play ultimate, and we want to have fun. then why can't we put our differences aside in one, yes, just one aspect of our lives and be ONE team. is that too much to ask?

gah. i'm venting. i guess that's why i have my blog. i don't know what to do, but i do know what i want to happen. well, i guess it is my fault for not having a more cohesive girls' night earlier in the year.

now that the venting is done, here's the update on my happenings in the last few days:
thurs 2/3: skipped dreamweaver class to do a few errands before my senior picture appointment. went to class, fell asleep during the final cut pro lecture. did a few more errands before returning to the apartment to make spam musubi for suza, jenny, and me before track practice. ran a timed mile....yay 6:15. fastest time ever. came home, ate spam musubi, and called it a night.
fri 2/4: went to the gym. worked out the upper body. feeling a teeny bit stronger. watched sportscenter, had breakfast, napped. went to two classes, picked up a camera so i could shoot my story this weekend, had lunch with sara and jac out west, and returned to the apartment to figure out what we needed for girls' night. had dinner with lisa at the gsu, hung out with jasper and steve at steve's place, returned to stuvi (they went to the hockey game) and got the first load of stuff for girls' night ready. dropped off aforementioned stuff at jac's and walked to blanchard's. picked up rum, tequila, and jack and dropped that stuff off at jac's on my way home. finally home for a bit, and then went over to girls' night! got totally wasted (just ask piper), but enjoyed myself nonetheless. crashed at jac's (thanks jac and everyone else who took care of me).
sat 2/5: beautiful day. woke up at 11:40, walked home, and got ready for practice. played ultimate on nickerson, took some pictures and video, and followed that with a team lunch at west. hung out for a bit, tried to get rid of the hangover by eating, and chatted a bit with chloe. came home for a nice shower, and a relaxing evening with steve. tried to start a puzzle, but ended up watching the "thomas crowne (sp?) affair." missed the 1994 spelling bee on espn classic (boo steve), and just sat around watching espn for the rest of the night. fell asleep to "finding forrester."
sun 2/6: procrastinated long enough to finally get my butt out of the apartment and out shooting my story. went over to northeastern, interviewed a freshman there; walked over to emerson....didn't get an interview; came back to agganis arena, interviewed dean elmore, nathan, and jon, enjoyed the free food and watched the first half of the game with lisa. returned to the apartment for a bit before watching the rest of the game with some of the pilots at ed's. yay patriots! came home grumpy, fell asleep watching sportscenter, and finally went to bed at 2.
mon 2/7: gym again! lower body workout. i think i'm not pushing myself hard enough, but i don't want to get hurt. i guess i'll push myself a little more on friday. harnessed my chi, took a nap, and woke up with just enough time to shower and walk really fast to campus. only five minutes late today. returned the camera to com, attended the second class of the day, and had lunch with jodi at warren. met steve at perd, walked out to boston sweats to drop off the designs, stopped by shaw's for some ocean spray juice and tea, and walked back. had a heated discussion with steve on the corner of comm. ave. and buick street....and the rest is, well, history.

in just over an hour, there's track practice (finally!), and then i get to eat dinner. steve's coming over to talk, and we'll see how much sleep i get tonight. goo. i'm going to see "lion king" tomorrow at the wang theatre. i'm really excited! then we're going out to dinner (crossing my fingers for cheesecake factory or something along those lines).

okee dokee, i think i've written enough for now; time to get ready for track practice.

running gets the frustration out.

senioritis

yes, it's back. it's official. mark this date: february 3, 2005. i don't want to do anymore work. i struggled to find topics for two stories for my two journalism classes, and i barely got out alive. i don't know if i'll make it through this semester. in the last two days, i've sent out about a dozen ultimate-related e-mails, did a bunch of ultimate-related errands on my day off, and managed to worry about ultimate all day until i watched president bush talk about social security reform during his state of the union tonight. and it's only thursday. thank goodness friday is only a day away. hooray.

what i've been up to in the past week:
fri 1/28: gym at 6. shower. class. lunch at home. oh, that's right....i went with lisa to meet with the manager of agganis arena to schedule the ultimate frisbee team to clean/fundraise. then home to chill out. until we went to clean agganis. all eight of us. that was fun. then we returned to stuvi for the fastest pregaming ever. we hopped in cabs and down to the roxy we went (thanks ed). danced for an hour and a half, had tons of fun, fell on my knees while attempting to get off one of those stripper dancer's stages, totally drunk but didn't puke, walked along boylston until we found empty cabs, came back to stuvi where lisa, suza, and i stayed up until 5:30 talking. that was an awesome night. yay pilots!
sat 1/29: slept in 'til 1. chatted with steve for a bit while we decided what we were going to do for the night. ended up doing a couple of errands (i think) before nightfall. tried to go to the bu hockey game, but it was sold out. caught the t to marty's, picked up a couple of six-packs (smithwicks and smuttynose old brown dog ale), came back to stuvi, ate a small dinner, had a beer (mine was frozen!), ate some ben and jerry's, watched "house of flying daggers", enjoyed sportscenter, and then called it a night. it was nice.
sun 1/30: slept in 'til noon-ish. made pancakes and portuguese sausage for brunch. watched tv, tried to read, watched more tv, and sort-of napped. marinated some mochiko chicken for a late-night dinner. played intramural basketball and lost (boo). came home, cooked mochiko chicken for the roomies (it was 'ono!), and watched a bit of tv. ended up chatting with steve and frank until 3:30 in the morning.
mon 1/31: took a two-hour nap (see above). went to the gym at 5:45 (yay for the early start). ate breakfast, watched sportscenter, and took a nap before class at 10. went to class, dozed off, then managed to stay awake in my second class (whew!). went to jac's for lunch (yay for leftover domino's) and hung out for a bit. came back to stuvi, did a few things, and then did some fundraising (semi-successful). left fundraising to go to track practice....i felt really good. came home, cooked the rest of the mochiko chicken for everyone, and had some chicken for myself. yum. unsuccessfully attempted to read, chatted online for a bit, then called it a night. wow, was i tired.
tues 2/1: yay february! no classes on tuesday, but i felt like i was running around like a head-less chicken. went to a really lame session of dreamweaver tutorial. went to the gsu to do a bunch of stuff for ultimate (thanks oocs!). came home for lunch and some down time before finishing the rest of my list of errands. almost finished my list of errands, and decided to do some window shopping. went with steve to copley to check out what's new at the gap and j. crew....nothing really there right now....kinda sad. returned to campus in time for dinner and the amazing race. really vegged out yesterday. wrote a million e-mails, dealt with not-so-smart people, and made another list of things to do for wednesday. geez. went to sleep around 1:30. that's good, right?
wed 2/2: went to the gym at 6 with lisa. good workout today. i'm feeling a lot better since starting three weeks ago. makes me happy. came home, harnessed my chi, ate breakfast, fell asleep on the couch watching sportscenter, woke up with enough time to shower and walk really fast to campus (i was still late), and managed to make it through another day of classes. dropped off my blouses at the dry cleaners (they were ironed for senior pics), came up with a public opinion story for multimedia (with an approval from my professor....yay!), and did a few more errands on campus before calling it a day. had dinner with steve and simon at west after they finished pt, came home, watched part of the cincinnati/louisville basketball game, counted jerseys (to discover that we're 15 short....stupid me), watched the state of the union (and came up with a story idea for enterprise....bush's push for social security reform), tried to read, watched the democratic response to the state of the union, and then attempted to do some reading. failed at that, so i decided to start recopying my notes. i write a lot in an hour. yikes. anywho, i got bored with that, so i hopped online, looked for articles related to bush's state of the union and articles related to the social security reform he spoke about. since i finished looking for what i wanted, i decided to blog.

and there it is. another crazy week, even though it seems to fly by once i get to wednesday. kinda scary. anywho, tomorrow's thursday, and i have another dreamweaver class (hopefully it's better than the last one), senior photos (i can't believe i'm a senior again), and one three-hour class (hooray enterprise....not!). then track practice at 8, picking up milk and some deli meats at shaw's, and back home for dinner and homework. goo.

i know there was something else i wanted to write about. but i think it's just the fact that i'm really not motivated to do anything right now. i've delegated ultimate stuff to next year's captains, but there's still a lot to do for the spring season. i also need to schedule interviews for my stories, go out and shoot these stories, and then write and edit these bad boys. fun times. i guess i should get some sleep so i can think straight tomorrow.

maturity is underrated.

10 days in boston

i've been in boston for 10 days, and this is what happens:

mon 1/17: i arrive in boston safely. ran to and from barnes and noble to pick up my one book for the semester. picked up dinner from the cantina and hung out with steve and talked a little. i was a little tired.
tues 1/18: first day of classes. visit the souvenir store for my paychecks from last month. go to my only class of the day and realize that i'm in the wrong section for one class and have to attend the other section on wednesday. but, i still had to sit through three hours of stuff that i'll hear the next day. oh well. at least i don't have class on tuesdays.
wed 1/19: went to the gym. felt really good to workout. shi-min joined me. went to my three classes. saw "in good company" with lisa and spoony. made me feel good. scarlett johansson is really pretty. went to watch west wing with steve at his place. fell asleep instead and missed it.
thurs 1/20: slept in (i think). had lunch and went to my one class. it should be okay. first track practice of the season went really well. i'm really excited to get in shape for ultimate this semester. this is it! wished lori a happy early birthday on IM. that was funny. : )
fri 1/21: two classes. had lunch with jac at the gsu. piper hung out, and then we went to pt. my i-t band is doing okay. still need to take good care of it. suza cooked dinner and i went to see "friday night lights" with spoony and his roommate at morse. it was an okay movie.
sat 1/22: slept in a little. woke up and decided that i needed to get out for the afternoon. chatted with steve on IM before doing that, and then went to the starbucks near the arlington t stop to do some reading. it started to snow, so i made my way back to campus via shaw's copley. picked up jack and tequila for lisa and me. picked up sam adams winter ale and some food stuff for steve and drew. finally made it to campus and dropped that stuff. met up with lisa to go to anna's for dinner. yummy. picked up a lime from shaw's on our walk home and commenced pregaming. lots of alcohol was consumed, and spoony, suza, and chase got to see lisa and i get pretty drunk before we walked over to ed's for the botsp. botsp was awesome. i don't remember all of it. i didn't puke. i was a little obnoxious. i danced a little. i talked a little. spoony took a few pictures and videos with my digital camera. the pilots had a great time. awards were given my piper, lisa, and me. it was lots of fun. trudged home through the snow with spoony, lisa, and steve. blizzard '05 was here! lots of snow on the ground.
sun 1/23: slept in again. snow was still falling when we woke up. stayed in and made breakfast for the eight of us: jenny and mike, suza and chase, lisa and spoony, and steve and me. chocolate chip pancakes and waffles, eggs, portuguese sausage, and rice. fun times. snow continued to fall as we watched the nfc and afc championship games. stayed in for the rest of the night. way too cold to go outside. watched more tv and attempted to read. monday classes were cancelled. my four-day weekend was official. and it was only four days into the semester!
mon 1/24: woke up at a decent hour (don't know exactly what that hour was). no gym today. met up at the gsu with lisa to get some work done. made grilled cheese and soup for dinner. didn't really do much.
tues 1/25: no class for me. went to my first dreamweaver class. that was fun. visited oocs to print up a bunch of stuff and hang out. bought an external hard drive at best buy for class. met up with steve, simon, and piper to go to pt. did the first workout for the "core workout" dad gave me. stretched a lot. had dinner with simon and steve at the gsu. went running at the ttc with lisa. watched "the amazing race." relaxed a lot.
wed 1/26: went to 1-1/2 classes. university closed at 2 p.m. because of more snowfall. met up with steve, jasper, and evan and went to see "sideways." an okay movie. expected much more. took simon to the cantina for his 21st with steve, jasper, rosie, spoony, and lisa. simon didn't drink; he had a burger. watched "west wing" with steve here at the apartment. read a little. talked with jenny a little. went to sleep later than usual.
thurs 1/27: slept in. woke up later than i wanted to, but i was tired. went to my one class. learned a bit on final cut pro. that program looks like lots of fun. had an late lunch/early dinner. relaxed at home for a bit and sent michael a belated birthday e-card. track practice #2! it was awesome to see all the ladies push themselves. hooray! lisa cooked dinner, and i ate a lot. watched some tv. relaxed. blogged.

i've been in boston for 10 days, and it's been a little crazy, to say the least. i enjoyed lots of snow and fun times, and i hope to continue this for the next month and a half before spring break. going clubbing with some of the pilots tomorrow night at the roxy downtown. pregaming with the upper commonwealth avenue gang and then getting dressed for a fun night on the town.

lots of good things and not-so-good things have happened in the last 10 days, but i'm really grateful for my friend and roommate, lisa, for picking me up and having a good time. i'm really lucky to have a friend like her. roll with the punches; there are worst things that could happen. with that said, i'm out. going to the gym in the morning, and i need my sleep. hee hee.

"sometimes it's not about getting ahead...it's about getting a life." -in good company.

last night home

well, i just got home from a wonderful three hours of dancing at pipeline cafe. didn't really expect much except to dance, and i did it. hooray. anella, joana, sara, and aimee were there, so i joined up with their group and danced the morning away. i guess i've been in a dancing mood ever since i met up with jordan lee and the gang at reign two weeks ago. i guess i've never really let myself loose until now. i had so much fun.

anywho, the recap of my last few days at home....
thurs 1/13: took dad to work. grandma came over. then i visited uncle mike perkins at kgmb. dentist appointment followed by car estimate appointment. then to wholesale unlimited to buy random and unnecessary goodies for my trip to boston. picked up dad from work. went to uh basketball game....they kicked smu's butt. then home for the night to relax, read, and watch tv.
fri 1/14: took dad to work. dropped off car repair estimate at uncle sid's body works shop. went to lunch and then to the sony open with aunty carolyn. picked up a pissed off dad from work (because he had to wait....i give up already). spoke with steve on the phone. made dad more mad because i was "thinking of only myself and couldn't pick traci up from soccer practice" (again, i give up). ran to kapaolono park to "watch" kaimana teams practice....ended up playing in my sneakers (which, by the way, is a bad idea). got a ride home from chris. ate a late dinner, watched tv, did some ultimate-related stuff, and then called it a night.
sat 1/15: slept in until 9! did some chores around the house (sweep, mop, dishes, laundry). ate breakfast (pancakes and spam). dropped miki off at school, then brad off at his car wash fundraiser, then back to school to sit around and wait for miki's game to start. mike tongg called while i was at the game and we spoke for a little while. watched miki's soccer game (they beat pac-5 2-1). came home with the family and did more ultimate-related stuff. took miki and kanoe to the winter bash at the waikiki shell. came home and did a little more ultimate related stuff. went to the uh basketball game with dad, traci, and uncle chris (uh lost 61-59 to louisiana tech....they played six of their nine guys). dinner at zippy's. visited uncle scott and uncle stuart for a bit (ate ice cream and drank vanilla cream soda). came home and asked dad to go out dancing. went to pipeline to dance (since it's open until 4....by the time i left home it was 12:30). danced with anella and the gang, and a few boys who wanted to dance. good times. finally returned home a little before 4 to write this and call it a night.

just wanted to share my thanks to the people who let me hang out with them while i was at home for the past three and a half weeks: ko, mike tongg, krystal, frank, chris, and the o'ahu ultimate crowd, rustin and ryan tongg and their extended family, matt tongg, brooke, kala'e, sam, jordan, david, moani, candace, jessica (congrats on graduation!), larry, darryl, the boys (and jess) from footwear and team sports at the sports authority, anella, joana, sara, aimee, and the boys i danced with tonight at pipeline. i had a blast while i was at home, and once again, i've enjoyed every minute of this vacation. it wouldn't have been possible without all of you letting me hang out. i wish you all the best this year, and i hope that we keep in touch.

peacing out to boston in 19 hours.

-me : )

okay, i think that's it for now. just wanted to document my last night home before i forgot.

January 13, 2005

four more days....

this week has flown by very quickly. i think it's because no one's home and i can do whatever i want to. hooray. here's another recap of the last few days:

sat 1/8: watched miki's soccer game against 'iolani. they lost 1-0. miki played well. it was a very nice day. dropped lori off at the airport so she could return to redlands. ran to diamond head and back (i'm still very slow). went to the uh basketball game (they pounced on san jose state) with the family. dancing at pipeline with krystal, sam, and their friends, and ran into moani, david, candace, and their gang. lots of rain fell. stayed out with the later gang until 4:30. home a little before 5. another awesome saturday.
sun 1/9: woke up at....3 p.m. seriously. because it rained the night before, i decided not to play goaltimate. helped out at home instead. dinner at home with the family. a very relaxing night.
mon 1/10: took dad to work so i could use the car for the day. went up to kamehameha to visit teachers and talk story. picked dad up from work and went to sam's club. went for a run. dinner with the family. another low-key day.
tues 1/11: took the siblings to school. took my trip around the island. a beautiful day. lots of fun pictures that i will post when i return to boston. visited with 'umi and aunty becky. a windy day. hung out at sandy's beach for a bit before proceeding around the island. stopped at matsumoto's shave ice for my usual li hing mui/strawberry shave ice. returned to kamehameha to drop off drinks for brad's fundraiser. picked up a winter bash ticket for miki. played ultimate at ala moana. messed up the roof of the vanagon. picked up dinner for the family. saw the last 15 minutes of brad's soccer game against punahou (they won 2-1). had "a talk" with dad about the van....blah blah blah. relaxed for the rest of the night. definitely an awesome day.
wed 1/12: took the siblings to school again. early start. came home and sat around and called people. made plans for today. dropped a van off at school for the siblings to drive home. went to the beach and read for a bit. steve called while i was there, and we talked for a bit as well. played a weak game of goaltimate. bought an ironing board for home and a nintendo ds and madden 2005 for frank. dinner with the family. watched "lost" and "alias" as well. stayed in again. i'm tired from waking up early. i think i'm really going to hate myself next week when i begin going to the gym three times a week. at 6 a.m. yuck.

and now it's thursday, and i'm killing time before i visit uncle mike, kahina's dad, at kgmb (cbs affiliate here) in an hour or so, and then off to the dentist later this afternoon. i also need to make a few last-minute christmas gift purchases for people back in boston. and then to get an estimate for the van. then picking my dad up from work. maybe i'll get to play a little ultimate before tonight's uh basketball game. it's going to be a busy day. also the last day for the whitestrips. i do think that my teeth did get whiter. hooray.

planning for high tide has begun, and many of the lady pilots are eager to get this show on the road. i'm really excited. bridget found a beach house for $650/wk, we have ladies with cars to take us down there, rosie's planning a menu for the week, i found a sam's club to pick up all the food/drinks, mackenzie's working on fundraising, and bids are being submitted for acceptance to this awesome spring break trip. as long as this goes well, i can worry about sectionals and all that fun stuff that comes with the upa college series. i should really get on that.

okay, i think that's it for now. i had a couple of really really really really really really really really weird dreams in the last week. here are brief summaries of them: last week sometime, i had a dream that i was marrying kala'e. no joke. the whole ceremony was set up in this huge church. i was having doubts, and honestly, more concerned about how i got myself in that particular predicament in the first place. not that getting married is a bad thing, and kala'e isn't a bad guy, but it was unreal. i was getting married. and totally freaking out about it in my dream. had a last-minute freak out session, and walked out of the wedding. didn't get married. didn't do anything too crazy. but i couldn't figure out how or why (no offense to him at all) i said yes. so very crazy.

and the second dream (which i had last night): i was at some boarding-school-ish thing, and jasper, rosie, and holzer were there. i think it was in hawai'i because i danced the hula (which i didn't know at all....followed someone who was dancing in front of me and made it through the performance). after the performance, kala'e came over and said hi, and started to kiss me. three seconds later, steve shows up. out of nowhere. completely healthy. like he's run from somewhere. sees kala'e kissing me all over my face (not the lips, though), and asks what's going on. i introduce them to each other, and then holzer says something about being offended about a part of the hula we did. random. then i ask steve why he's here, and how he got here. he mentions something about the fact that he was supposed to be here last thursday. i'm just ecstatic that he's here. cuts to the next scene where steve is walking with me, and asks about what was up with the kala'e thing. i told him that there wasn't anything, and as i tried to kiss him, he moves back. and kala'e walks by us. so that doesn't happen. and, by this point, i'm weirded out, but i still want to see what unfolds with the rest of the dream. so i stay with it. i'm crazy. anywho, steve is helping me pack and move my stuff, and then the dream ends. that was really weird.

i don't know what's going on in my subconscious over the last few days....it's been weirding me out. i also had a dream about a week and a half ago where i was running from someone who was trying to kill me and a bunch of people my age at some type of secluded castle-type structure. of course i don't get out of the dream until things get a bit much and i'm sliding under things and trying to run from this killer, and trying to kill him myself. my mind's been pretty active in the last couple of weeks. i think i need to get back to school and my super busy schedule. then my mind won't have tons of time to freak me out like it did.

okay, i think that's enough for now. four more days until i'm back in boston.

time flies when i'm having fun.

January 08, 2005

still at home!

so, i've been home for a little over two weeks, and the friends that i've hung out with are back on the mainland. as i reflect on these last two weeks, i had so much fun. tons and tons of it. going out every night to hang out at starbucks, dance, play games at dave and buster's, or just cruise in a car around the island have made this break another one to remember.

i'm just very happy when i visit home because i don't have to worry about classes, work, or any other responsibilities that i have in boston. hooray. it also helps that the weather is awesome, i don't have a curfew, i do have access to a car, and, did i forget to mention, i have access to a car?

....when we're out together dancing cheek to cheek....

just saw a commercial for cinnamon girl, a local ladies' boutique, that had that song playing in the background. ah, the memories....

anywho, more things i've done in the last week:
sun 1/2: played goaltimate for the first time EVER. wow, was that a workout! i enjoyed it a lot, but still need to work on my handling skills. dinner at home with the grandparents. then went with mike to ryan's house to play poker. finished third, but didn't win anything (or lose anything....mike covered my entry).
mon 1/3: went mini-golfing with mike, rustin, ryan, and jenna's family at jungle river. shot a 49 (par was 43). not bad. then out to dinner for awards and food. met up with krystal and went to hang out with mike and rustin at starbucks. then krystal, mike, and i took grandpa's mini cooper for a joy ride up tantalus. that car is awesome.
tues 1/4: played ultimate at ala moana. had dinner at home. then went out to hang out with mike and rustin at starbucks, followed by walking around aloha tower with mike before going to ocean's to meet up with brooke (and dance for a bit). dropped them off at home after we were done dancing, and went to hang out with the boys at dallas' house. played some xbox. stayed out really late. 5 a.m. late. fun.
wed 1/5: watched miki's soccer game against mid-pac at kamehameha. kamehameha won 5-0 or something like that. home for dinner and hanging out around the house. played poker with brad, lori, kenric, and traci. lost $10.
thurs 1/6: played ultimate at ala moana. home for dinner. watched a lot of bad tv (the oc and north shore), and fell asleep watching the daily show with jon stewart.
fri 1/7: hung out with the van. battery died, so we had to replace it. watched brad's soccer game against pac-5. kamehameha won 2-1. it was a really good game. took pictures of the landscape and my brother playing. then went to dinner with the family for lori's last night home.

now, i'm at home, blogging. wanted to go out tonight, but couldn't find anyone around that i wanted to go out with. feel like dancing. maybe i should just stop worrying about the what-ifs if i do go out alone and just do it. oh, and i should put on the whitestrips....

okay, whitestrips are on, pj's are on, and i'm comfortable. hooray. anywho, i called krystal tonight, and she was at campbell industrial park watching sam race her new scion. she's going to pipeline tomorrow night (i have to see this) to celebrate a friend's birthday. i'll probably go after the uh basketball game. hooray for dancing!

anywho, i spoke with steve tonight after the family dinner, and he doesn't sound happy at all. i know it's been tough for him to stay home over the past week while his wounds heal from his wisdom teeth surgery, and that he's been cooped up since he arrived home because there isn't a car for him to use to go out and do stuff. and most of the time, i'm talking about going out with my friends and having a good time. what am i supposed to do? i'm enjoying every minute i'm at home, but every time we talk, i feel bad for enjoying myself, and bad that he can't go out and do anything.

i'm watching friends now. reruns that i haven't seen before. chandler is visiting his dad, who's a drag queen, in las vegas to invite him to his wedding. funny stuff. and ross and rachel are driving monica's porsche. rachel gets out of a speeding ticket by flirting with the officer, while ross gets pulled over for going too slow. glad i can still see the sitcom on late night.

okay, i drift often and frequently. steve's also getting acl surgery on monday, which means that he'll be immobile for a long time after that. and he can't do anything about it. i really wish there was something i could do for him. maybe i'll send him a letter. try not to make it feel like a 5th grade love letter or something like that....but stamp pens are fun. whatever. it also gets me frustrated that my actions aren't (at least in my mind) appreciated. i know that it was a bit extreme to decorate the letter like that, but honestly, i was just thinking about making him smile. that's all. a thank you would suffice. goo. i don't want to get mad.

ah, a little under 10 minutes before i put on the next set of whitestrips. at least they're staying on my teeth tonight. i had a little trouble last night. hooray for white teeth.

oh, so i figured out what i'm going to do next week: i'm going to drive around the island and take pictures with the digital camera. lots and lots of landscape pictures to bring back to boston. just because they're beautiful pictures that can only be captured once in a lifetime. brad and miki return to school next week, so i hope to have access to a car to drive me around the island. i also need to send up a box with stuff that i got for friends at school. exciting.

speaking of returning to boston....there are a bunch of things i need to do before i get back. i don't want to think about it for now, so i'm not going to. i'll deal with them when i'm in a better mood. okay, i'm going to switch whitestrips and get my read on. gotta finish the barack obama book.

hau'oli makahiki hou 2005

well, well, i'm back in the islands for a three-week visit, and the holidays have passed as quickly as they arrived. christmas was the usual, and new year's was another good time, and i'm soaking up all the fun times and weather that hawai'i has to offer. i've been out every night (and not exactly drinking) except for christmas, and i'm happy and sad at the same time that i see a lot of my high school classmates wherever i go. the funny thing is that i never really hung out with any of them in high school, so to see the cliques out and about makes me laugh because they're still doing the same things they've done since high school. going out as often as i have for the past week and a half is new to me, and i'm glad that i didn't go out in high school. i think it takes away from all the fun that a student should have when he/she is in college. anywho, enough about that.

here's my attempt to recap what i've done since i came home on december 22:
wed 12/22: uh basketball game with the family; then out to dave and buster's with ko (and we saw half of our graduating class....yikes! i had a couple of beers, and was set for the night....stupid flying for 11 hours and gaining time back) and then to likelike drive inn for our usual late-night snack.
thurs 12/23: uh basketball game with the family; then out to hawaiian hut with lori and kenric to see natural vibrations....drinks, dancing, and seeing more of my high school classmates....can't believe i went out again....but it was worth it, because it led to crazier things later....hee hee.
fri 12/24: dinner at shizu's with grandpa and grandma (yum japanese food); then over to the tongg family christmas party with lori to see family friends i haven't seen in two years (again, no drinking....hooray)
sat 12/25: christmas! visited mom's side of the family out west; then went running. whew, that was exhausting. dinner at aunty susan's house with entertainment by nikki (my six-year-old cousin). passed out as soon as i came home.
sun 12/26: dinner with the family at home (tried to eat up the leftovers); then out to see "ocean's twelve" with ko, lori, and kenric (no drinking tonight....yay); then to zippy's with ko for an after movie meal.
mon 12/27: dinner at aunty susan's house for nikki's birthday; then out with kala'e to ryan's bar and grill and hanging out....followed by meeting up with trevor at dallas' house....what an interesting night. had a couple of drinks, but not enough to get tipsy....way to stay in control.
tues 12/28: pickup ultimate at ala moana (hooray for ultimate in hawai'i); dinner at home; then out with ko to mai tai's. ran into leah and her gang, as well as trevor. didn't want to make things more interesting than they were the night before, so we left and drove around and saw the honolulu christmas lights. short night with a couple of drinks, but it was lots of fun.
wed 12/29: dinner at home; then out to dave and buster's with mike, matt, and brooke to play games. no drinking tonight, but playing games was lots of fun. mike drove me home and we hung out and talked for a bit. good times.
thurs 12/30: pickup ultimate at ala moana; supposed to go out with krystal and ko, but krystal was busy, so i went out to reign instead. met up with jordan and his gang, drank a few, danced a bit, and then went to zippy's for a post-dancing meal. definitely tons of fun. and i definitely need to do it again.
fri 12/31: new year's party at the nakamura's. yay for new year's. hawaiian food, a few beers, enough fireworks, and good weather. it was a great way to welcome 2005.
sat 1/1: new year's ozoni soup at grandma's house; new year's dinner at uncle melvin's; then over to kahina's house to hang out and catch up. had one drink, but i just hung out and relaxed.

and now, it's january 2nd, and i plan to play goaltimate today, and i hope the sun comes out as well. that would be nice. it rained all day yesterday and last night, and hopefully that's it for the rest of the time i'm home. i really really need some color. : )

that's the recap for the last week and a half i've been home. hopefully the next couple of weeks will be just as much fun, even though frineds are going to back to school. i think i should stop typing now....there will be more to come later, i'm sure.

happy new year!
