home for winter break

after thirteen hours of traveling, i arrived at the honolulu international airport at 4:24 p.m. (hst). we landed exactly one hour after our scheduled arrival. i blame the tardiness on the organization at the san francisco airport during the holiday season. that's why i despise flying to and from san francisco. oh well. i'm home; i really shouldn't complain.

to recap the last 24 hours or so, i went to work at oocs, did some christmas shopping, and met up with kris kelly for dinner and catch-up night. we met and went to my place around 5:00 p.m. and then talked for two and a half hours before going across the street to the sunset cantina for dinner. we talked for four and a half hours after that and finally left the cantina around midnight. it was really great to catch up with kris; we haven't talked much at all this semester. after hanging out that night, i returned to my apartment to clean and pack. kris was even more awesome for taking me to the airport at 5:45 this morning. kris, you rock!

anywho, my sister lori picked me up from the airport today, and she updated me on what's been going in her life over the past few months. it was great to hear her stories and experiences during her last year of high school. she's been a bit of a negative influence on miki, but oh well....that's life. i'm trying to convince her to visit me during her spring break in march....we'll see about that as well.

tonight, after lori and finally returned home, my dad, lori, traci, and i went to pick up my uncle and then my brother to go to the university of hawai'i basketball game. tonight was the first night in the adidas tournament, and hawai'i played texas southern university. uh won 95-78, i think. i saw kala'e and shane at the game and caught up with them during the second half. it was a surprise to see them there, and i was definitely shocked for a bit. i think this time around we'll catch up and settle things once and for all. but i'm not holding my breath. after the game, we went to eat some saimin at sekiya restaurant in kapahulu; it was really really good. yum.

i hope to catch up with the rest of my family in the next two weeks, and i also hope that i'll get to catch up with the rest of my friends here at home. but now, it's time to sleep.
