consistency, part two

funny how i try to have a part two to follow a part one even though they may not relate. oh well.

it's 11:59 p.m. friday, july 18. and i'm at the end of session 5. this week was a fun and crazy week for orientation, but i really enjoyed it. i may have worked long hours and complained about it then, but it's all over now, and i don't have to think about it for two days. wonderful. congratulations go out to the orientation staff for an awesome session 5. only three more to go!!!!

tonight, i'm going to backtrack through the last week starting from today (if you get confused, i'm sorry). anywho, i got home from work at the souvenir store at fenway about an hour ago, and i spent the first half hour talking on the phone with my best friend, steve. coincidentally, he was returning to camp from his night off, so we got to talk for a while. it was great to hear his voice and talk about anything that came to mind. that's what best friends are for, right? it's really nice to be able to talk to someone who understands you and makes you feel at ease when you talk with them. that's what i like about my friendship with steve. no matter what's happened between us, we've always been able to talk through our situations (once we've each blown our steam and calmed down a bit) and we've tried to figure things out. he may have done a better job at figuring things out than i have, but we always set aside time to talk about whatever came between us. sometimes i didn't want to do that, but it's only made our friendship stronger than ever. so, i want to thank steve for being my best friend. you are awesome. seriously.

before talking with steve, i was at fenway from 6:30-10:45. it was a good way to release the stress i acquired during the week. i work at the souvenir store on yawkey way (directly across from gate a at fenway), and i've been working there since april. it's my second summer job, and i'm having a great time. basically, it's retail, and we sell a lot of red sox merchandise. during the home games, the store is open at night, and that's when i go to work. there are a lot of teenage and college-aged students working at the store, and they're really cool. it's an entirely different atmosphere, and it's great to work and hang out with more people my age. i've met a few bu students, which is really cool. i do know people outside of the ultimate team. hooray for me. anywho, i interact with customers before and after the game; and during the game, i usually restock the shelves and racks with shirts and hats. it's completely different from work in the office, which is sometimes the perfect remedy after a long week of pre-frosh parents, and i'm enjoying it. so i spent those four and a half hours selling red sox caps and restocking the shelves with caps. i think the red sox lost, though. i'm really not sure. oh well.

i've already shared my thoughts on this week's session. i met two pre-frosh who are interestecd in playing ultimate with us in the fall. they are really cool, and they can throw both backhand and forehand. that's so awesome. we had a summer league game on thursday night, and i invited them to play with us. they got to play with (what i'd like to call) our "old school" gang, and i hope they enjoyed it. after the game, i hung out with the sapas at the skit and dance in the gsu. i don't hang out with them enough, and i'm going to work on that. i should hang out with them more because they're such wonderful people. sapas, i'm sorry that i don't hang out with you much; i'll work on that in the next few weeks.

i'm falling asleep here at my desk, so i'm going to stop here for now and finish after my crazy day at work tomorrow. yay for work from 9-closing tomorrow night (the red sox are playing a saturday night game this week)....let's see if i survive.

have a super saturday, and don't forget to write back to me when you read my blog. =)

-me : )
