time. people say that there isn't enough time to do everything they want to do. my solution: sleep less and do more. i don't know if many will agree with me, but that's my take on time. another one of my recommendations: use it wisely and do things that make you happy.
i think that my dad is a good example of someone who uses time wisely. he goes to work everyday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or so and then he goes home or to football practice (to coach, not play), and then he works out after practice, goes home and cooks dinner, reads the newspaper, watches some tv, hangs out with the family, and then goes to sleep. on weekends, he goes to work from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. or so and then goes home to clean the cars, or the pool, or to take a nap, or to watch either lori, brad, miki or traci's games; then he usually buys dinner for the family, and then reads the newspaper, watches tv, or does some paperwork for the office. on sundays, he takes us out to brunch, does work from the office, tends to the garden, makes the kids wash one (or both) of the vans, cooks a sunday dinner for the entire family (my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousin usually eats with us), preps dinner for monday night, reads the newspaper, watches some tv, and then goes to sleep. he's got a routine down such that we know when he's going to do certain things (and we usually ask to go out or to the beach or something), and we try to time it so that we get out of the chores that we don't like to do.
the reason i bring this up is because my dad's in the hospital right now. according to traci's (my youngest sister) IM, his back has been hurting him for a couple of weeks, but he tolerated the pain. but today, he couldn't walk, so lori (my first sister) took him to the hospital and he's there now. i don't know any more of the details, but it was a huge shock to me when i got home....
i just got off the phone with my dad; it took me three tries to find my dad, but i was able to talk to him. he has a pinched nerve, which means that he doesn't need surgery. he took some x-rays this afternoon, and he just arrived in the room minutes before i called. yay for me and good timing. he says that he has to take medicine and wait for the pain to subside before going home. he says it's really sore, but that i shouldn't worry....parents, they think that telling us not to worry works. oh well, they tried. he'll be in the hospital for tonight (at least), and he said that he'll call me when he finds out a more definite plan of action. i told him that if he wants me to come home during my week off, i'll do it. i also told him about a plan i had to go home during my week off just to hang out and do stuff. funny thing is that i decided not to because i wouldn't have enough quality time at home with all of the things i planned to do during that week. maybe it's a sign....maybe it's not. who knows? well, when he calls with the plan of action, i'll decide whether or not i'll go home to help. i feel bad that i'm not there to pick up the slack and take care of things so my siblings don't have to take on added responsibilities. especially in the next couple of weeks. they have varsity tryouts and school to prepare for, and if i were home right now, i would be there to help. but i'm not, and i feel stupid and selfish and frustrated. it sucks. but i'm really glad that i got to talk with my dad; it made me feel better about the situation, and knowing that he'll be in touch will make things a little easier to deal with.
okay, that's all for now. time for reading and thinking and trying to sleep. another week is here!
time....think about it.
